Day 1 of bathroom reno. As I would have it, owning a house thats 40 years old comes with some inherent issues. What was supposed to be a simple gut and remodel is now becoming a mold removal and reframing ordeal. The contractor discovered what the insurance company calls “seepage” that had been happening for quite a while unbeknownst to the residents of the house and doesnt believe a claim is warranted. The contractor and I think otherwise since there is mold that came about from the water seepage. But thats another story in itself and perhaps I may share my results in another blog.
But none the less, the subfloor is gone, the walls and ceilings are gone. We now have an empty shell ready to be tackled. Tomorrow for day 2 the team will add a more robust subfloor, will reframe what needs to be done and hopefully we can get the walls up.
So if you plan to have someone do some reno work for you, just plan to add some contingency money to your budget for those unexpected gotchya’s.
